Imagine that you have been invited to a hastily organized dinner party in the Maple apartments and you need a hostess gift. What to do? It is snowing, and you really don’t want to drive to downtown Sykesville. Your solution is to visit the Beasman Boutique. It is located across from the Bistro and it is open from 11-3 p.m. Monday through Friday. The Boutique’s official name is The Beasman Boutique – A Candy Striper Gift Shop, an Acts Fairhaven and Carroll Hospital Partnership.
The boutique opened in September of 2016 and replaced the gift shop that was managed by Fairhaven under the auspices of Kim Glazier. Mary Richards, Director of Volunteer Services for the Carroll Hospital Center, is now the overall manager and the ordering and stocking of the shop is done through the Volunteer Office of the Hospital. The Boutique is staffed by many volunteers. Some are Fairhaven residents and others are from the local community. Scheduling of those who volunteer in the Boutique is done by resident Ann Byrne.
The Boutique not only benefits the residents of and visitors to Fairhaven, but it also financially benefits the Carroll Hospital Center Auxiliary and ultimately the hospital through the sales the Boutique generates. The Boutique offers birthday discounts to residents and many unique gifts. Some of the items for sale are books, candy, cards, jewelry, clothing and accessories, purses, cosmetics, men’s toiletries, activities and toys for children, including stuffed animals of many sizes and shapes. So, stop in and pick up that perfect hostess gift and much, much more.
